While we were researching about Manitoba in Humanities we came across a video. It was a video about a purple chair and we were like what on earth is this video about. Then Mr. Hennigan came and he was interested in what the video was about too. At the end of the video it said something about a lady named Viola Desmond, and Mr Hennigan told us to look up who he was and why she would have a video about her. The video said that she was a lady from a African Canadian heritage and a businesswoman. Then today we did a presentation about her. Our class had looks of disgust on there faces when they heard how unfair they thought it was that white people cant sit with black people and that they had to go to jail if they did. Please enjoy our research as much as we did. -Morgan and Charlie 5-1 We have been working through exploring the invisible nature of electricity.
We are now moving to exploring the relationship between magnets and electricity We have been learning and exploring the Provinces and Territories of Canada. We recently explored the famous Canadian Artist Kenojuak Ashevak. We looking into her life and as a young mother and artist through her famous film about life in the North. We them explore her art and what made it unique. Student then drew and carved a creative art piece inspired by Kenojuak. Students dis such an incredible job. ask them what they thought about Kenojuak and what elements of their art is inspired by Kenojuak. We had the wonderful opportunity to work with Resident Felting Artist Leah Donald from https://www.artfeltstudio.com. All students work collaboratively to bring our felting art piece to life. I was so proud of how creative and hard working the class was to create the piece. Please ask you child what they though about the medium of felting as an art form.
