Hello Everyone,
We survived Halloween! Ya- Kids had a lot of fun and were super creative with their costumes- I even snuck in some Math :) Now this Time Change... Anyone have some magic powder to help my 15 month old realize that his day does not start at 4:45am?... Ski Forms- I sent home Ski Forms for our ski trip on Monday Dec 10th, Tuesday Dec 11th, Monday Dec 17th, and Tuesday Dec 18th. Canada Olympic Park does an incredible job at helping students develop the skills of skiing and snowboarding. We do need Parent Volunteers to make these day happen, If you can help us out please send me an email or send a note in with your child. Ski Forms are due back Nov. 24th.If possible can you can pay online? It makes it a lot easier for everyone at the school. Math- We are continuing to work on our number sense and pattern unit. We have started with Algebra, T-Tables and number patterns. Ask your child to show you some of the Math they have been working on. I attached some pictures of our class working on some number pattern problems. Science- Students are working with Mrs. Cranstone (Their Science Teacher) on their Wetland box of knowledge. Ask your child how their Wetland Knowledge box is coming along. Humanities- We are almost finished our Novel Study on the Breadwinner. We will be working on a writing and art project to compliment our work with the novel. We will be watching the Breadwinner Cartoon Movie in Class. It is rated PG. If you do not wish your child to see the movie please let me know. Here is the site to have a look at the content http://thebreadwinner.com It is an incredible story Reading- We now all have Read Theory accounts to help us individually work on our reading skills. Ask your child to show you their account and watch them take a few quizzes. Most students test lower than their actual reading comprehension level at first as they have a tendency to race through the questions. We will have a look again in a week or two to see if they have improved with their accuracy. Hope everyone is staying warm, Mr. H Comments are closed.
